As you know by now, there's no such thing as a slow news day any more. Now it's the mind and body calling the shots. We must all be aware of those cues and take the message and take care of our selves. However, if that were my only criteria, I'd have been on vacation since November!
This time, I have a better reason! Beginning tomorrow, I'm spending a week with my daughter! Almost two years after I escaped from Florida, she's getting out too. She's following me to Arizona, though she'll be in Tucson - an easy 90-minute drive down the I-10 from where I live just outside of Phoenix.
I prepared for this week off by putting together new shows comprised of some of the must-hear interviews from the past year or two! They'll go out, as usual, here via Substack, they’ll run on YouTube, they'll run on Progressive Voices, Netroots Radio and the other online stations that carry the show. It will be available wherever you get your podcasts, and will all be posted, as usual, at nicolesandler.com. I hope. (All depending on whether or not the gremlins cooperate.)
To wrap things up for now, I couldn't think of a better guest to join me today than our old friend Heather "Digby" Parton. You can always read Digby at digbysblog.net and at Salon.com, but I love chatting with her here on the show.
There was plenty to talk about today too, as the shit really has hit the proverbial fan. Thankfully, Digby pulled together much of that shit show in a post this morning headlined, “Are They Over It?”
Meanwhile, while meeting with the president of the Philippines today in the Oval Office and showing off his gaudy “gold” decorative embellishments, D’ump showed just how frightened he is about what is hidden in those Epstein files that he went off on his latest attempt to distract us — claiming to have uncovered the biggest scandal in American History!
It’s difficult to paraphrase because it’s so batshit crazy, but he’s claiming, with an assist from Tulsi Gabbard, that Hillary Clinton, Jim Comey, Joe Biden and just about every Democrat alive took place in a coup orchestrated by Barack Hussein Obama (yes, he’s back to calling him that) to steal elections, thereby allowing millions of immigrants (or “illegals” as he calls human beings") into the country to rape and murder white people…. or something like that.
Think I’m kidding? I’m not…
Just in case you need me to say it, that’s all nonsense. But you know that. Oh, and sedacious is not a word.
My brain hurts.

Stephen Colbert addressing his firing last night, now that he’s had a weekend to ruminate on it. He had a little help from some friends too.
And Jon Stewart, who also works for Paramount via Comedy Central, weighed in too… The whole episode is worthy of your time, but the pertinent segment begins at around the 16:39 mark.
There’s so much more but my vacation is calling me….
